Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are injectable cosmetic products used in treatment of a variety of facial aesthetic issues, and are administered in a quick, comfortable, non-surgical procedure. Most of today’s dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a natural hydrating chemical made by the body and present in healthy skin, making them a safe and effective method of temporarily improving the condition and appearance of facial skin.
What Dermal Fillers Can Do
In the hands of a skilled and experienced oral and facial surgeon, dermal fillers can provide attractive, natural-looking results as they improve aesthetic issues. Among the most common uses of these products is to reduce common signs of aging, filling in lines and wrinkles, for instance, or restoring volume lost to aging in the cheeks, eye area or lips. Dermal fillers are also commonly used to fill in depressed scars, such as those left behind by acne, minimizing their appearance. Many patients seek treatment with dermal fillers to enhance facial features, such as the lips, chin or cheeks, to improve facial contours, or enhance or restore facial symmetry, purposes for which these products are very well suited.
How Treatment Is Done
Dermal fillers treatment begins with a consultation, during which Dr. Arroyo will evaluate the aesthetic issues you would like resolved and provide you with treatment recommendations, as well as a clear idea of how much improvement you can expect to see with treatment. Should you decide to move forward, Dr. Arroyo will inject dermal fillers into the skin at points carefully calculated to provide the desired cosmetic results.Procedures are quick, generally taking less than 30 minutes, and, since very fine needles are used, involve very little discomfort. Most patients describe the sensation as similar to that of a mosquito bite. After-effects from treatment are typically limited to mild redness and irritation at injection sites. Some patients may have mild bruising, bleeding or inflammation.
What Patients Can Expect From Dermal Fillers Treatment
Dermal fillers are, it is important to note, a temporary solution to aesthetic issues, which means that if you are pleased with your new look and wish to maintain it long term, regular treatments will be necessary. Results can be expected to last from 3 to 6 months before touch ups are required. Just where the longevity of your results will fall within that range will depend upon factors that include the particular dermal fillers used, the areas treated, overall skin condition, and your skin care and sun exposure routines.
